Every desktop or notebook or web server is run by an Operating System - the low-level program that interacts with the hardware equipment, including peripheral devices such as a mouse or a printer, together with any applications that are currently installed on the system. Any program input through a command line or a Graphical User Interface (GUI) is processed by sending an Application Program Interface (API) request to the Operating System. On a server, any app runs within the parameters specified by the OS as well - priority, physical memory, processing time, etc. This is valid for both standard website scripts and server-side software such as a media server. When a virtual server is created on a physical one, there can be two separate Operating Systems, called guest OS and host OS, which means that you will be able to set up a different software environment on the same machine.

Multiple OS in VPS Hosting

Our virtual private server solutions come with three Linux distributions that you may select from for the Operating System of your new web server - Debian, Ubuntu and CentOS. In addition to being free, the OSs are really stable and safe and the primary reason to offer you the three of them is to make sure that you will be able to run any app that you'd like, as different pieces of software could have different requirements in terms of the environment they work on. Each of the three OSs is supported by a huge community of developers who have made a large number of software packages that you can set up and use on your VPS. Depending on the Operating System that you choose, you will also be able to select between three different Control Panels to take care of your web hosting content. Needless to say, in case you decide that you need some other OS, we could always reinstall the server with it. As a paid upgrade, we also provide weekly updates of the OS for optimum stability and security.

Multiple OS in Dedicated Web Hosting

In case you decide to buy one of our dedicated servers, you'll find three Operating Systems on the order page because we want to give you a wider choice regarding the system environment on your server as different apps may have particular requirements. CentOS, Ubuntu and Debian contain different modules developed by their large support communities, so you can select any of these OSs and enjoy a stable and secure web hosting service. Depending on your choice, you'll also have different Control Panels to choose from. Of course, we can always replace the Operating System if the one you have selected in the beginning does not meet the requirements of the software which you would like to run. We can also update your OS regularly in order to keep it as risk-free as possible through our Managed Services upgrade package.
